How NGS plans to support Passive Control in the Modernized NSRS

Presenter: Daniel J. Martin, NOAA/NOS/National Geodetic Survey

When NGS first announced plans for the Modernized NSRS, there was little to no support for Passive Control. Since then, NGS' stance on Passive Control has changed significantly, and there has been a renewed effort to streamline the process for submitting data to NGS. We will discuss the role of Passive Control in the Modernized NSRS, NGS' plans to support Passive Control, and the latest developments in OPUS-Projects that support modernized surveying methods and streamlines submittal to NGS.

Updates on the Datums and the Deprecation of U.S. Survey Foot

Presenter: Daniel J. Martin, NOAA/NOS/National Geodetic Survey

NGS has updated “Blueprint for the modernized NSRS, Part 3: “Working in the modernized NSRS”.  In this updated document, we have described new types of coordinates, the role of passive control, and the role of OPUS.  Another recent event was the official deprecation of the U.S. Survey Foot.  This workshop will introduce participants to these new concepts as they pertain to the new datums and we will discuss what the Deprecation of the U.S. Survey Foot really means.
