Seminar Descriptions

GPS for Boundary and Construction Surveys (4.0 PDH)

Presenter: Raymond Hintz, University of Maine

Ray Hintz returns to the Spring Seminar to discuss surveying with GPS technology. He will cover questions including:

  • How do we know we have a good location with one lonely shot?
  • What do all the numbers associated with the shot really mean?
  • How does one know they have a good value?
  • How about a Least Squares Adjustment using GPS data?
  • Does taking 12 shots on the same point within the same window of time amount to anything?
  • Should we be doing boundary surveys with GPS data points?

Managing a Large Project, from Soup to Nuts (3.0 PDH)

Presenter: Timothy Patch, Principal, SGC Engineering, LLC

This will be a discussion of large project dynamics, including client interaction, proposals, project startup, communication, collecting data, managing data and so on. Tim Patch will explain how to make it all work and end up with a successful project that's financially beneficial and and leaves a happy client.
